A bit About Me

With his finger on the pulse of technology and consumer electronics, Jon Cohen has been breaking, fixing and enjoying technology since childhood. His father often recounts the story of how Jon loved to unplug and replug RCA cables from the back of the TV as a toddler. These days Jon contributes as a tech journalist and correspondent to SiriusXM and Rogers Media, and as a photographer. Jon uses his years of knowledge working in consumer electronics to write and inspire his “What the Tech?” column.

During CES 2021 I had a chance to check out OpenComm by AfterShoks, a bone conduction headset that is perfect for use at home or at the office. The OpenComms are lightweight and have a good battery, I was able to get around 8 hrs with mixed usage from it. It uses a magnetic connection to recharge the headset, and the travel case is a wonderful solution for storage as well as on the go in my laptop bag. Bone conduction technology is so cool! I had never had a chance to use it for an extended period of time before this but I really think it is wonderful. The fact that nothing goes into the ears, is a perfect solution for me.
