A bit About Me

With his finger on the pulse of technology and consumer electronics, Jon Cohen has been breaking, fixing and enjoying technology since childhood. His father often recounts the story of how Jon loved to unplug and replug RCA cables from the back of the TV as a toddler. These days Jon contributes as a tech journalist and correspondent to SiriusXM and Rogers Media, and as a photographer. Jon uses his years of knowledge working in consumer electronics to write and inspire his “What the Tech?” column.

CES 2021 introduced me to so many new brands, one of them was Fledging. By far one of the coolest M.2 SSD enclosures I've used. Featuring Thunderbolt 3 for wicked fast I/O and smaller the a deck of cards. With a built-in cooling fan (very quiet) to enhance the performance, the Shell Thunder is the Ferrari of SSD enclosures. In most of my speed tests I found that the read/write speeds out performed my internal SSD drive (both Mac and PC). I have adopted this as my preferred drive to do all my video edits with.
