A bit About Me

With his finger on the pulse of technology and consumer electronics, Jon Cohen has been breaking, fixing and enjoying technology since childhood. His father often recounts the story of how Jon loved to unplug and replug RCA cables from the back of the TV as a toddler. These days Jon contributes as a tech journalist and correspondent to SiriusXM and Rogers Media, and as a photographer. Jon uses his years of knowledge working in consumer electronics to write and inspire his “What the Tech?” column.

Experience Studio-Quality Sound on the Go with Questyle NHB 15 Earphones

Experience Studio-Quality Sound on the Go with Questyle NHB 15 Earphones

Can you really hear the difference between lossless headphones and standard headphones? This is the question I started with when I had my first look at the NHB 15 headphones from Questyle. Much to my delight and amazement, the answer was an astonishing YES! The USB-C connection on the NHB 15 boasts a built-in Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) and amplifier, eliminating the need for extra bulky equipment. This means you can simply plug the headphones into your phone, tablet or laptop using the USB-C connection and enjoy high-resolution, lossless audio – the same quality experienced in professional recording studios.

Unlike those bulky over-the-ear headphones, the NHB 15s are compact and lightweight, perfect for slipping into a pocket or backpack. They come with two interchangeable connections: first a USB-C cable for newer smartphones and tablets, and second a standard 3.5mm jack cable for wider compatibility with laptops, MP3 players, and other audio devices. The NHB 15s also come with a great travel pouch that is perfect for packing and storing your headphones plus multiple ear tip sizes for a comfortable, secure fit. This is important for not only blocking out ambient noise but also ensuring the best possible sound quality.

But the NHB 15s are about more than just convenience. The superior sound quality is thanks to a built-in Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) and amplifier. This technology bypasses the need for your device's internal audio processing, resulting in a cleaner, more detailed soundscape. Thus it is important to note that if you plan on using these headphones with the iPhone 15 and older devices, then it would be wise to get the cable versions of the Questyle NHB 15 Made for iPhone. These will have the Apple lightning connector with the Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC), thus allowing you to listen to lossless audio on the iPhone.

The Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) will light up red when you are receiving lossless audio, this is a great way to visually see the difference between standard audio and lossless audio. Audiophiles will appreciate the ability to hear every nuance of their favorite music, from the subtle whispers of a backing vocalist to the rich harmonics of a complex orchestral piece. And even casual listeners will be impressed by the difference – music will sound fuller, clearer, and more engaging. I know I was impressed and my hearing is not great.

NHB in the model name NHB 15 stands for “Never Heard Before”, it is a fitting name because after 2 and a half hours of listening session with 3 of my favorite albums, I was sold on Questyle NHB 15 lossless headphones, and with a comfortable fit and exceptional audio performance, I would have to say that the Questyle NHB 15 earphones are a great choice for anyone who wants to experience their music library to the fullest.
